PRESIDENT HICHILEMA SWEARS-IN DIPLOMATS

By Chileshe Mwango

President Hakainde Hichilema has directed newly appointed Zambia’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Duncan Mulima to ensure the fuel and fertilizer deal that Zambia wants to venture into with that country is sealed.

President Hichilema says this is important in ensuring that the country has cheap prices for the two commodities.

Speaking at state house today when he swore in two High Commissioners and three ambassadors, the president has also directed newly appointed Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi Colonel Panji Kaunda to ensure the commissioning and operationalization of the Mwami Boarder is done

in the soon.

The head of state says this should have been much earlier but both the governments of Malawi and Zambia lost track of the earlier arrangement which has affected trade between the two countries.

To newly appointed Zambia’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland Eunice Luambia, president Hichilema has tasked the new diplomat to take advantage of the presence of the many UN agencies there to the benefit of the country.

President Hichilema has also sworn in former UPND secretary General Stephen Katuka as Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia.
