LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ADVISED TO HEED PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE TO THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATE CASES BEFORE ARRESTING SUSPECTS

New Heritage Party Vice President Samuel Kasankha has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for instructing law enforcement agencies to do thorough and conclusive investigations before arresting and prosecuting suspects.

During the swearing in ceremony of board members of the Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC, Judicial Service Commission and Human Rights Commission yesterday, President Hichilema directed law enforcement agencies to investigate cases thoroughly before taking them to court and must not take any cases to court which they believe have no evidence.

Commenting on this development, Mr Kasankha is of the view that the

arrest-and-quickly-arraign- before-the-courts pandemonium that has reigned since president Hichilema took office is an embarrassment to the government.

He says much as every patriotic Zambian eagerly awaits the imprisonment of every criminal including murderers, thieves and the corrupt, many Zambians ended up beginning to oppose and write off this fight as persecution because the zeal exhibited by law enforcement agencies emanated from wrong statements or instructions from high offices.

Mr Kasankha is hopeful that the Drug Enforcement Commission-DEC, anti-corruption commission-acc and Zambia police will henceforth exhaust their investigations before arresting anyone.
