LOCAL FRUIT FARMERS TO BENEFIT FROM THE OPENING OF THE KALENE HILLS FRUIT FACTORY

By Sepo Akabondo

The Fruits and Vegetables Association of Zambia says the newly commissioned Kalene Hills Fruit Factory in North-Western Province will help add value to fruits that local farmers produce.

Commenting on the newly commissioned K130 million Kalene Hills Fruit Factory by President Hakainde Hichilema, a 100 percent Zambian-owned business in Mwinilunga yesterday, association president Bernard Sinkunyongana says fruit farmers are highly expectant of the factory and will encourage farmers to produce fruits

on a large scale and will further reduce on wastage which farmers used to experience before the coming of the factory

Mr. Sinkunyongana has told Phoenix News that the fruit factory also shows government and President Hichilema’s efforts at ensuring value addition in the agriculture sector.

He hopes that more plants of such nature will be put in place for the processing of even more produce in order to grow value addition in Zambia.
