Government has maintained that it will finance redundancy and pay packages to the 327 Indeni employees as the refinery transitions to a new working model as an oil marketing company.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Energy Minister Peter Kapala says government is in the process of refining the crude that is currently in the pipeline which will later be sold to raise funds to pay the employees
Mr. Kapala says the new oil marketing company will start operating at Indeni soon adding that some of the workers will be recalled and re-engaged under the new model of operation aimed at making Indeni more efficient.
He adds that Indeni employees have started receiving their letters of redundancy as the company is winding up operations and has assured them that they will get their full packages at once.
